2010 Anti-Slavery Seminars
Remedies for trafficked and enslaved people

Friday 8 October 2010 – 2.00pm – 5.00pm
Trafficked people may be entitled to obtain financial compensation for wrongs they have experienced. Remedies could include payment of money to offset injury or unpaid wages. This seminar explores legal avenues for redress including victims of crime compensation, civil action and compensation orders following criminal prosecution.
About Fiona McLeod
Fiona McLeod is Senior Counsel at the Victorian Bar, she took silk in 2003. She has acted for corporate, government and private clients and appears in public interest litigation. She is currently senior counsel for the commonwealth at the Bushfires Royal Commission.
Fiona was formerly President of Australian Women Lawyers, convenor of Women Barristers Association and an executive member of the Victorian Bar Council. She is the Chair of the Victorian Bar Equal Opportunity Committee. She represents AWL on the Attorney General’s NGO Human Rights Forum and is a member of the National Roundtable on People Trafficking.
